Fujinon Debuts ENG HD Telephoto Lens

Fujinon is shipping new glass this month that feature optics identical to its earlier lenses first shown in April at NAB (XA50X9.5) — but designed for ENG units that use system expanders. The new offering (XA50X9.5B ESM-D) is an HD telephoto lens that was designed for smaller shooting venues and applications that do not require extremely high magnification.

Fujinon is marketing the new lens as ideally suitable for rental for covering sports, house-of-worship, and special events remotes. The XA50X9.5B ESM-D offers 50X magnification and a 9.5-to-475mm focal length. Standard with the new glass is a 2X remote control extender

Maximum relative aperture is 1.7 from 9.5-to-311mm, as well as 2.6 at 475mm. (Minimum sustainable distance-of-object is 9.8 feet.) Internal absorption technology is geared to reducing humidity fogging and other moisture.
