Harmonic to feature HD, IP-based headend solution at SCTE Cable-Tec Expo

At SCTE Cable-Tec Expo, which begins today in Philadelphia, Harmonic is featuring new products and solutions, including video compression for rich HD programming, IP-based headend consolidation to lower operating expenditures, and fiber-based transport to improve bandwidth efficiency.

Key digital video demonstrations include:

  • Encoding: State-of-the-art 3:1 MPEG-2 HD compression, 16:1 MPEG-2 SD compression, 1080p MPEG-4 AVC (H.264) HD and transcoding.
  • Stream Processing: A single platform solution for splicing, statistical multiplexing, scrambling/descrambling, dynamic digital mosaics and forward error correction (FEC).
