Paxson Brings Super Bowl Coverage to New Orleans
Paxson Communications Corp.'s New Orleans station WPXL-DT, will carry Super Bowl XL on Sunday in HD on behalf of Tribune Broadcasting's ABC affiliate WGNO-TV.

WPXL, which Paxson operates under a time brokerage agreement, has been carrying the digital signals for WGNO and Tribune's WB affiliate WNOL-TV in New Orleans since the days following Hurricane Katrina.

Dean Goodman, COO and president of Paxson Communications said his company's relationship with Tribune demonstrates one of the many benefits of digital multicasting for local communities.

"Having been fortunate enough to maintain full functionality of our broadcasting facilities after last year's storm, we have effectively used WPXL's multicasting capacity to carry the digital signals for WGNO and WNOL in addition to our own," said Goodman.

This same technology will come in handy on Sunday, when Paxson uses its multicasting capacity to help Tribune deliver Sunday's big game in HD to New Orleans viewers.

"We're very happy that this arrangement will enable us to provide the Super Bowl in high definition for our local viewers," said Larry Delia, general manager of WGNO-TV and WNOL-TV. "There is no bigger sports-viewing event than the Super Bowl, and it is critical that we are able to continue to provide this service to the community."
