WCNY Converts to HD With Pro-Bel
Syracuse, N.Y. PBS station WCNY has installed a range of Pro-Bel routing and router control technology to help transition the station to HD.
WCNY installed two Sirius routers--one video and one audio. The first using a 128x128 frame, is equipped 32x32 analog, 64x64 SDV and 32x32 HD. The audio router, a Sirius 256x256, is fitted 128x128 balanced synchronous AES and 64x64 stereo analog. In addition, WCNY has also installed a Freeway RS-422 router with a 32x32 timecode card. The new equipment will allow the station to multicast five on-air channels.
John Duffy, vice president of Technology and Operations with WCNY said, "The ability to combine SD and HD in the same frame was very important in our decision to use Pro-Bel technology at the heart of our digital solution."
The deal was overseen by Pro-Bel partner NNY Inc.
