Four Commissioners, One Senator Coming to Capital, Policy Conference

FCC Commissioners Jonathan Adelstein, Michael Copps, Deborah Tate Taylor and Robert McDowell will speak at the Minority Media and Telecommunications Council’s Sixth Annual Access to Capital and Telecommunications Policy Conference, July 21-22 in Washington.

Adelstein, Copps and McDowell will speak at the conference opener, “Financing Breakfast: A Conversation With FCC Commissioners,” July 21 at 8 a.m.

Tate is scheduled to give remarks at “Ownership Summit, Session 1: How to Put the FCC’s Minority Ownership Policies to Work for You,” July 22 at 9:30 a.m.

Sen. Robert Menendez, D-N.J., will speak July 22 at 8 a.m. at the “Entrepreneurship and Competitive Policy Breakfast.”

The conference includes numerous sessions on finance issues related to minority broadcasters. Sessions include “How to Finance Media and Telecom Enterprises, Even in a Weak Market,” “How New Media Can Reinvigorate Your Broadcasting and Publishing Business,” “Research and Due Diligence in Media and Telecom Transactions,” and “Negotiating and Closing a Media or Telecom Transaction.”

The evening of July 21, MMTC will hold its 11th Annual Hall of Fame Reception. Inductees will be Frank Montero, executive director of the Independent Spanish Broadcasters Association, Jack Mullaney, president of Mullaney Engineering Inc. and Jack Winston, executive director of the National Association of Black Owned Broadcasters.
