RF CENTRAL MICROWAVE TECHNOLOGY TRANSMITS BROADCAST SOLUTIONS AT IBC 2008

The Netherlands, Amsterdam, September 10, 2008 – RF Central, a leading digital microwave technology provider, is showing great presence at this year’s IBC 2008 (Stand 1.A30), offering broadcasters solutions for transmission and reception. Among its many products being exhibited are its new RFX-PRX-II portable handheld COFDM monitor/receiver, its RMR-X6-II six-way COFDM diversity receiver and the NLL-II 5.8 GHz portable digital microwave link.

The RFX-PRX-II portable handheld COFDM monitor/receiver is ideal for a wide range of applications including ENG confidence monitoring and security surveillance. Its lightweight palm-sized design (available in 2 GHz and 5.8 GHz) is comprised of a compact housing that spans just 16 x 12 x 3.8 centimeters. To ensure durability, the system is fully ruggedized using an ABS plastic shell. Delivering extreme sensitivity, the PRX-II is equipped with a 5.6 inch high-resolution screen and offers record and playback capabilities via a user replaceable flash memory card. While currently available in 2 GHz and 5.8 GHz frequency bands, other frequency bands can be furnished upon request. Additionally, the PRX-II is CE approved and RoHS compliant. The unit receives COFDM DVB-T modulation in modes QPSK, 16QAM and 64 QAM.

Building on the success of its original RFX-RMR-X6, the RMR-X6-II six-way COFDM diversity receiver delivers new advancements and capabilities. It represents the latest in maximum ratio combining technology and offers superior diversity reception with new cutting-edge features including On Screen Display of stream data, Ethernet monitoring for remote control access and IP encapsulation for Internet broadcast. Among its other attributes is the ability to deliver both SD and HD (SDI) video when paired with a standard or high definition external ASI decoder. Delivering a broadcast-rugged package that captures the essence of flexibility and forward thinking design, the RMR-X6-II is outfitted with a straightforward front panel design, compact chassis and OLED graphic display.

Taking its former model to new heights, the updated NLL-II 5.8 GHz portable digital microwave link now offers both balanced microphone and line level inputs via switch selectable XLR connectors on both the transmitter and receiver. This makes the NLL-II the perfect solution for roaming news and sports crews. As part of its new release, the redesigned NLL-II is also now equipped with phantom power for microphones. While the new NLL-II is loaded with new features, its complete transmit and receive system continues to distribute high-quality wireless digital video and audio at an outstanding 450 meter range; all in an ultra-compact form factor.
