TV Magic Helps Cottonwood Church Prepare for HD
SAN DIEGO — June 9, 2008 — Broadcast systems integrator TV Magic today announced that it is providing design and installation services for a new HD-ready production system at the Cottonwood Church's new 32-acre facility in Cypress, Calif. Installed in the new control room, the production system will support Cottonwood's live production and recording of services, enabling the media department to provide an enhanced experience for the congregation on Sundays and create higher-quality masters of the service for post-production and distribution for SD and, in the future, HD broadcasts.
"Our overall goal in working with TV Magic was to design an infrastructure that would allow us to make an easy and cost-effective shift to HD when the time is right," said Darrin Godin, pastor at Cottonwood Church in charge of media and communications. "TV Magic consulted with us and came back with ideas and solutions that met our expectations. The systems being installed in our new construction meet our needs exactly and will allow us to put our best foot forward in reaching out within the local community and around the world."
Over the past 25 years, Cottonwood has grown from 50 members to more than 6,000 members attending weekly worship services. The church's new campus includes a worship center, children's ministry, and student ministries/school of ministry building that all together totals 200,000 square feet. When complete, the building project will allow church members to gather together in the same space, at the same time, for worship services.
TV Magic designed the new facility's HD-ready production system to support five to eight cameras on a switched feed and multiple ISOs recorded to video tape machines or servers. The system incorporates a Grass Valley™ Kayak switcher, Miranda multiviewer, Pixel Power CG, Avocent KVM switch, and custom consoles and racks. In addition to installing a production booth for control of the video production system and A/V display, TV Magic is integrating the control system with the new facility's audio and video projection system to support the house mix.
The HD-capable production system also will support the Cottonwood television ministry and its signature program, "Answers with Bayless Conley," which is broadcast across the United States on TBN and regional channels and distributed globally on CNBC in Europe, North Africa, and the Middle East and on PCTV in Mexico. Cottonwood anticipates beginning services at its new campus and worship center by the beginning of July.
"As the broadcast world continues to move into the HD realm, Cottonwood will be equipped to deliver the premium HD content that viewers demand," said Stephen D. Rosen, president of TV Magic. "Cottonwood is committed to reaching out and as an organization strives for excellence in doing so. This installation provides the technical foundation the church needs to continue spreading its message effectively, both at home and across the world."
