Zaxcom Expands Feature Set of TRX Wireless Microphone Transceivers
POMPTON PLAINS, N.J. -- April 14, 2008 -- Zaxcom, a pioneering provider of professional audio equipment for film and television, today debuted two new features for its TRX family of wireless microphone transceivers. The company‘s TRX systems are now available with a wireless dynamic range expander and an adjustable RF output power feature, both of which increase the operational flexibility of the unit.
Zaxcom‘s new adjustable downward expander algorithm will attenuate low-level noise, making it particularly well-suited for use in applications that mix multiple microphones together. The algorithm pushes the noise floor to 12 dB, effectively extending the dynamic range of the TRX wireless system to 118 dB. As a software update, this feature is available free of charge to all current and new TRX users.
All Zaxcom wireless transmitters will now begin shipping with adjustable output power settings of 10 mW, 25 mW and 50 mW. This new feature allows customers to fine tune the TRX system to meet varying distance, battery consumption, and RF power output needs.
“The new adjustable downward expander for our TRX systems continues our emphasis on evolving products to provide greater flexibility and control, and it helps make our systems easier to use in a wider range of applications by automatically keeping the noise floor as low as possible,” said Glenn Sanders, president of Zaxcom. “Our adjustable power feature also provides new levels of control and is especially important in ensuring that users have the flexibility to meet the power output regulations that can vary from country to country.”
Zaxcom‘s complete line of TRX wireless systems includes the popular TRX900, TRX990, and TRX900AA digital wireless microphone transceivers, the TRX700 plug-on, and the TRX800 handheld wireless recording transmitters. These systems are optimized for use in ENG and other broadcast applications; reality television productions; concert, presentation, and theater settings; and in any other audio production that requires mobility, premium sound quality, and superior performance. With the optional internal recording feature, these wireless audio microphone systems can also ensure redundancy in case of audio drop-outs. A wide feature set is available, including support for transmission of IFB audio, time code, and remote control signals.
The TRX family is on display now at the 2008 NAB Show, April 14-17 at the Las Vegas Convention Center. To learn more about Zaxcom‘s full line of audio products, visit the company‘s NAB booth (N4533) or visit www.zaxcom.com.
