TV Magic Designs and Installs A/V Upgrade at Thousand Oaks‘ City Hall Broadcast Facilities
SAN DIEGO -- Feb. 25, 2008 -- Broadcast systems integrator TV Magic has completed an A/V upgrade for the City of Thousand Oaks, Calif., updating the audio, video, and control systems used at city hall to broadcast committee meetings and public discussions on the city‘s municipal cable TV channel, TOTV. The new digital equipment replaces aging analog systems and enables a better level of audio control during production.
“TOTV has been serving the residents of Thousand Oaks for more than 20 years, and the coverage of public meetings is one of the channel‘s key applications,” said Carl Jarecky, cable operations supervisor for the City of Thousand Oaks. “After years of use and depreciation, much of our equipment had become obsolete. TV Magic provided technical expertise in planning and executing a much-needed upgrade of the cameras and infrastructure supporting our city hall broadcasts, allowing us to continue live broadcasting and recording of meetings for future airing on TOTV.”
In a retrofit of the videoconference chambers at the Thousand Oaks city hall building, TV Magic replaced and upgraded the room‘s pan-tilt camera system and tied the controllers into the existing city TV studio located in another part of the building. As a result, technical staff members have been able to maintain a familiar workflow while working with more flexible, reliable digital equipment. TV Magic also replaced the room‘s audio system and controllers, giving TOTV staff the ability to program and control audio from the studio and to send signals from the studio to the videoconference room.
“We had been impressed by TV Magic‘s workflow in previous projects and were comfortable, based on past performance, working with the company to complete this new project,” added Jarecky. “Because TV Magic provides both design and installation services, the company is able to serve as a seamless resource throughout the entire course of the project. The integrity of the build and the soundness of the systems involved will enable cost-effective operations for years to come.”
