Avocent Announces Dual-Head DVI and USB Extension over Gigabit Ethernet
HUNTSVILLE, AL - February 5th, 2008 - Avocent Corporation (NASDAQ: AVCT), today announced the new Avocent Emerge® ECMS4000 extender which delivers uncompromised dual digital DVI and USB extension across unlimited distances. The Emerge ECMS4000 product provides users with a full desktop computer experience from anywhere on a Gigabit TCP/IP network. Media-intense applications such as video editing benefit from superb user experience while business critical workstations are securely maintained and managed.
“We are pleased to announce the new ECMS4000 dual DVI and USB extender utilizing standard Gigabit Ethernet,” said Mitch Friend, senior vice president and general manager of Avocent. “Since the ECMS4000 operates over a typical IP network there is no need for custom switches or costly fiber to provide users with rich media extension.”
The ECMS4000 extender can operate on a point-to-point CAT 5e cable or on a switched Gigabit Ethernet network. The Emerge ECMS4000 product consists of a transmitter that connects externally to each remote computer with dual DVI-D video connectors and a user station with dual DVI-I connectors, USB connectors, and audio ports. The high quality extension supports digital video up to 1920 x 1200 at 60 Hz. The extender is ideal for users who need a rich media, dual video display experience while using TCP/IP as the transport protocol.
The new Emerge ECMS4000T transmitter and ECMS4000R receiver are now shipping and available at an MSRP of $1,235 and $1,260 respectively. Demonstrations of Avocent‘s dual DVI and USB extension solution will take place at the Integrated Systems Europe tradeshow (Hall 1, Booth # I119) in Amsterdam, Netherlands, January 29 - 31, 2008.
