CEI’s Expanding Business Results in Increased Engineering and Sales Staffs
Newington, VA – January 7, 2010 – While many companies have been forced to cut back recently due to the economic environment, Communications Engineering, Inc. (CEI) announced today that it has responded to an increased demand for products and services by adding three engineers and a sales representative to its expanding staff.
The new employees joining CEI are Senior Design Engineer Tim Caldecott, Senior Systems Support Engineer Mel Berry, Jr., Design Engineer Jeremy Zavik, and Sales Account Manager Jennifer Helmrich. She is the most recent addition to a rapidly growing sales team. CEI and its subsidiary, CEI Sales, LLC, which focuses on product sales, have brought in several experienced sales professionals in the past year to better serve a wide range of clients in key markets.
Jennifer Helmrich, who has more than 12 years of experience in the audio-visual industry, will primarily be responsible for handling accounts in the government sector, including the Department of Defense, civilian agencies and government contractors. She comes to CEI from Five by Five Communications, where she was account executive, providing custom solutions to government and commercial clients. Previously, she held similar positions with Hoppmann Audio Visual and Karcher Group, Inc.
Tim Caldecott has more than 30 years of experience in broadcast systems engineering. He has held senior systems engineering positions for many leading manufacturers, including Miranda, Grass Valley, Sony, Wohler and Clear-Com, providing field engineering, design and support for a wide range of products and systems. He comes to CEI from Miranda, where he was a senior systems engineer and primarily provided support for router and master control systems.
Mel Berry brings more than 30 years of experience to CEI as a TV engineer, technician and field engineer. He previously served as a systems support engineer for Autodesk, working with customers using discreet advanced effects and various editing systems. Prior to that, he was senior field engineer for Philips Digital Video Systems, providing field service and installations of broadcast video servers in customer sites worldwide.
Jeremy Zavik has a broad spectrum of experience and education in broadcast and film engineering, production and support covering more than 15 years. He comes to CEI from Digital Video Group, where he served as a digital media technician, providing service and technical support for clients and sales staff. He previously was core room manager and assistant editor for Park Group; production assistant for the PBS documentary film “Documenting the Face of America”; and remote technician and board operator for Clear Channel Communications.
“Although it’s common in today’s economy for companies in all industries to make cutbacks, we’re fortunate to have the demand from our clients that actually requires additional staff,” said CEI President and CEO Lawrence Brody. “We’re also very pleased to be able to bring in such a highly skilled and talented group of professionals, whose extensive backgrounds will allow them to provide quality service to our customers right away.”
