RTS Builds for the World Stage

How do you move a preconfigured rackmount array full of state-of-the-art communications equipment? Use a forklift, of course.

That is the scale of communications that major broadcasters require for this year's Olympic Games in Beijing, China. To ensure optimal communications during the games RTS hand-configured a huge rackmount array, or "RIB", with the latest intercom equipment. The RIB will serve as the worldwide communications center for one of RTS' major broadcast clients at the Olympic Games, thus allowing instant contact between the customer's Olympic broadcast operations, headquarters, and any number of remote locations. RVONVoIP technology and RTS Intelligent Trunking Components make it possible for the RIB's 600 potential users in Beijing to seamlessly connect with over 30 of the broadcaster's matrix frames worldwide.

RTS Intercom systems are designed to scale for even the largest of system requirements. From simple two-wire partylines to trans-global RVONVoIP-based digital matrices, RTS has a customized system for the job.

The communications RIB for the Beijing Olympics includes 600 ports distributed over three rock-solid ADAM frames, DBX series Dual Bus Expanders, KP-32 classic series keypanels, RVONVoIP products, intelligent trunking components with telephone interfaces, as well as products from the Emmy-winning RTS Two-Wire line.

Failsafe global connectivity is not optional when the world is watching. For that level of performance and reliability, major broadcasters have trusted RTS at the Olympics for 30+ years because RTS exceeds expectations every time.

The massive number of ports the RIB supports is enabled by the 16-channel AIO-16 card. Installed directly into the ADAM matrix intercom system, the card gives 16 ports of audio IN and OUT plus individual data for each card installed (up to 17 cards) in the system. This doubles the amount of audio ports available from its predecessor the AIO-8. The AIO-16 is hot swappable, allowing the user to insert the card and begin using it instantaneously. The AIO-16 eliminates the need to manually set keypanel addresses on the back of the unit by enabling automated unique addressing, which greatly reduces the setup time.

Including the AIO-16, the broadcast standard AIO-16 card. Installed directly into the ADAM frame is available with the widest variety of interface cards in the industry. It also has a wide variety of cabling options, including fiber and coax. These options combined with standard redundant power supplies and huge scaling potential make the AIO-16 card. Installed directly into the ADAM perfectly suited for the level of operation that Olympic coverage requires.

To connect instantly with headquarters and other remote points around the globe, broadcasters are combining RTS RVON technology with RTS Intelligent Trunking Components to create a seamless, reliable worldwide network through VoIP and telephone interfaces. This demonstrates the level of flexibility and control that RTS offers their customers.

All of this connectivity is orchestrated through Windows-based RTS control software including AZedit, Trunkedit, RVONedit, and Trunk Supervisor.

AZedit is a Windows-based, full-featured configuration software, providing online and offline configuration capabilities. It gives the user the ability to manage multiple intercom systems, assign and reassign users to different ports, as well as dynamically add intercom hardware to your system setup without jumper changes, rewiring, or taking the system offline. AZedit has the capability to load pre-set configuration files, which means configurations saved to a disk can be uploaded to the live application at anytime without interruption.

The Trunk Supervisor Software program is a trunking system management application. The program allows for real-time monitoring of trunk line status information. The program also has the capability of remote notification of user defined alarm events.
