Additions include integration of Segmenter software, automated VOD asset creation and support for Microsoft’s Playready DRM technology. At the forefront of enabling live video to the Apple® iPhone™, Inlet augments its leadership role with a number of iPhone-centric enhancements. Integration of Segmenter software allows for iPhone-ready streams to be automatically created, eliminating the need for additional hardware or segmentation software to deliver video natively on any iPhone through Safari or an iPhone application, and making it even easier and more affordable for content owners to reach more than 40 million iPhone and iPod® touch® consumers.
Enhanced adaptive bitrate support ensures that iPhone consumers enjoy the highest-quality video streaming experience by switching seamlessly between multiple streams, optimizing the available bandwidth and device performance at any given moment. The video stream is automatically delivered to the end user without stuttering, dropped frames or buffering. Additionally, Inlet’s Fathom and Armada workflows now support creation of on-demand media assets which adhere to this new mode of delivery.
Automated VOD asset creation for iPhone means that live streams can instantly be turned into on-demand assets, creating immediate monetization opportunities for content owners.
In addition to built-in support for Microsoft’s IIS Smooth Streaming, Inlet has added support for Microsoft PlayReady, making it easy for content distributors to meet stringent Digital Rights Management requirements, with end-to-end content encryption and authentication control for the delivery of live or on-demand content to any device.
