Linear Acoustic Upmixing and Loudness Correction Add Speed, Power to RadiantGrid™ Platform
Integration of Linear Acoustic Technologies Into Media Transformation Platform Automates Conforming of Audio, Dramatically Reduces Turnaround Times
LANCASTER, Pa. — April 15, 2009 — Linear Acoustic has partnered with RadiantGrid Technologies, a provider of enterprise-level media transformation and workflow software for the broadcast market, to incorporate the renowned Linear Acoustic upMAX™ upmixing algorithm and loudness correction into the RadiantGrid™ Platform. Enhanced with Linear Acoustic technology, the RadiantGrid Platform provides broadcasters with a fast, highly automated solution for producing compelling 5.1-channel surround sound while addressing the loudness issues that are distracting for television viewers.
“Broadcasters face numerous challenges today in producing high-quality audio and video for their viewers; unfortunately, these processes can be both time-consuming and demanding on resources,” said Tim Carroll, founder and president of Linear Acoustic. “Now, the RadiantGrid Platform combines automated video processing with Linear Acoustic upmixing and loudness control — all performed within a streamlined and highly efficient workflow that requires little or no operator intervention.”
“Our unique partnership with Linear Acoustic brings full automation to the RadiantGrid Platform,” said Kirk Marple, president and chief software architect of RadiantGrid Technologies. “By incorporating Linear Acoustic technology into our media transformation platform, we enable broadcasters to realize a dramatic reduction in the time required to conform audio content. This process once took a day to complete, as the video signal was taken offline, brought online, and taken offline again in a repetitive and time-consuming workflow. Now, with the integration of our processing solutions, broadcasters can conform audio far more quickly in an automated, template-based environment.”
The RadiantGrid Platform combines workflow management, multiplatform transcoding, storage management, metadata indexing, and file-based ingestion into a scalable, extensible, future-proof solution that manages the media transformation lifecycle for companies of any size. The Linear Acoustic upMAX algorithm enables delivery of compelling 5.1-channel audio with complete downmix compatibility and bypasses upmixing when applied content is already 5.1 channels. AEROMAX processing provides ITU BS.1770 compliant loudness control as well as selectable multiband, multistage dynamic range control for content destined for devices such as mobile, hand-held, or streaming decoder which may require more tightly controlled audio.
Linear Acoustic and RadiantGrid will be showing the combined solution for the first time at the 2009 NAB Show at booths N1725 (Linear Acoustic) and SL10105 (RadiantGrid at SAN Solutions).
