Wohler Simplifies Multichannel Monitoring With New 3Gbps- and Dolby®-Capable 16-Channel Multirate Audio Monitors
AMP1-E16-3G and AMP1-16-3G Meet Demands of Complex Multichannel and Surround Applications in DTV Production and Transmission
HAYWARD, Calif. — April 20, 2009 — Wohler Technologies Inc. today announced the release of the AMP1-E16-3G and AMP1-16-3G 16-channel multirate audio monitors, the company's first 1RU 16-channel 3Gbps audio/video monitors. The AMP1-E16-3G model serves as the company's first 1RU audio monitor with Dolby® E and Dolby Digital capability. With a straightforward control interface and the same look and feel made popular by Wohler's acclaimed AMP2-16-3G 16-channel audio monitor, these new monitoring systems offer ease of operation that simplifies the most complex multichannel and surround applications.
"The newest additions to our AMP1 line of audio monitors offer the robust performance required for today's DTV signal chain while their intuitive interfaces and configuration options bring broadcasters valuable time and cost savings," said Kim Templeman-Holmes, vice president of global sales and marketing at Wohler. "The AMP1-E16-3G and AMP1-16-3G's flexibility with respect to configuration and metering parameters allow production teams to establish precise metering quickly in any environment."
Equipped with dual selectable 3G/HD/SD inputs, the new AMP1-E16-3G and AMP1-16-3G provide monitoring for up to 16 channels of embedded audio within a single multirate SDI signal, thus serving as an ideal solution for complex multichannel and surround applications in DTV production and transmission. Two of the three LCD screens can simultaneously monitor 16 channels of audio with flexible options for high-resolution 180-segment audio metering, while the third LCD screen may display source video or data. The screens also support the systems' intuitive and easy-to-use interface for setup and configuration of monitor features. Integrated loudness measurement and dialnorm data may be displayed on the monitor's third LCD screen to alert the operator if signals fall out of compliance with ITU-1770/1771 standards.
The fully digital system architecture of the AMP1-E16/16-3G features multiple high-fidelity class-D amplifiers for absolute reproduction of the embedded signal. Flexible assignment of directional signals allows the operator to configure the monitor to the specific needs of a production. Likewise, user-selectable metering functions and four user-defined presets provide speedy configuration of the monitor to meet various operational and programming requirements.
