Video Technics and VCI Solutions Introduce File-Based Server and Automation Bundle
Atlanta, GA (April 10, 2008) - Video Technics, Inc. (VT) today announced that they have partnered with VCI Solutions to create an affordable bundle for the facilitation of a file-based workflow from content delivery to on-air playout. The product bundle includes full-featured automation software from VCI Solutions, Pathfire licensing for syndicated content, and the new Apella™ SDX-MX video server from Video Technics. The Apella SDX-MX is a new three channel video server specially outfitted with 6 terabytes of internal storage and the ability to directly ingest native MPEG-2 content from syndication content delivery systems. The solution provides broadcasters with cost-effective, robust automation for master control, while simplifying content delivery.
The Apella SDX series is another revolutionary price breakthrough for an SD video server with SDI and analog I/O connectivity that supports a mixed media database of DV and MPEG-2 files, and offers up to two inputs or four outputs simultaneously from a single chassis. Virtually unlimited channel I/O and full system redundancy can be implemented simply by networking Apella servers together with shared storage.
Specifically engineered with more storage capacity and reliability, this Apella model presents a new benchmark for performance and value. The compact 3RU chassis features independent, hot swappable power supplies and front-loading hot-swap drive bays that allow internal storage to expand to 6TB with several user-configurable RAID protection options. Extensive native codec technology allows media files in the VT database - regardless of compression format - to be played back-to-back from a single output channel.
”We are always looking for new ways to provide our clients with reliable solutions that fit the needs of their operation,” said Jamie Meyer, Automation Division Manager, VCI Solutions. “Being able to offer this automation bundle at NAB 2008 is an opportunity for those seeking a new standard in automation for their facility.”
