LAWO COMPLETES AND OCCUPIES NEW BUILDING
Toronto, Ontario, Canada – January 26, 2010… Lawo, recognized globally as a leading manufacturer of digital audio networking and console systems for production, post production, broadcast, and related applications, is pleased to announce that on 13th January 2010, with numerous members of staff and guests present, the company celebrated the opening of a new building at their head office in Rastatt, Germany.
Construction of the new building commenced in May 2009; the investment was around five million Euros. Following seven months of construction time, the Production, Mechanical Engineering, and Warehouse departments took only three days to ‘move house.’ The Product Management and Management departments will follow in the spring. The new facilities, directly adjoining the existing premises, doubles the ground floor in size from 3500 m² to 7000 m². The additional space is primarily designed to achieve greater manufacturing efficiencies, with a significant increase in capacity.
“Erecting this building was a real ‘tour de force,’ emphasises CEO Philipp Lawo. “It is the largest expansion in the company’s history and is a clear commitment to this location, and to the preservation and growth of jobs.” The company, celebrating its 40th anniversary this year, employs 185 staff worldwide – 160 in Rastatt alone, where the R&D and Production departments have been based right from the start.
Vertical integration used in the manufacturing process – from market-oriented product development to the scheduling, construction, and production of the completed product – ensures a high quality standard for the products, thanks to the test routines incorporated in every phase of the manufacturing process. Lawo places great emphasis on the continuous improvement of their products, as well as developing new features and new products. The company’s driving innovation was recognized with a Silver award at the 2008 German Economy Innovation Awards.
