SAN DIEGO — April 2, 2009 — Broadcast systems integrator TV Magic today announced the appointment of Joe Berini as the company's vice president of engineering. A long-time broadcast professional, Berini brings to TV Magic extensive experience both in broadcast operations and in broadcast systems project planning and management. In his new role with TV Magic, he will serve as the company's point person in the New York metro area.

Berini has been involved in the broadcast industry for more than 25 years, holding senior engineering and management roles at broadcast stations from coast to coast, and beyond. His early industry experience includes a position as broadcast engineer for Aramco in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia. Over his career, Berini has held senior engineering and operations positions at CNBC, WNBC-TV, KCAL-TV, WNYW-TV, and Chronicle Broadcasting (KRON-TV). In each of these roles, Berini was responsible for improving efficiencies while expanding operations and introducing new technologies to the broadcast station.
Following his successes in engineering and operations, Berini shifted to architectural project management and planning for the broadcast market. He served as broadcast studio director for HLW Architects, later served as principal project manager at Ascent Media Systems and Technology Services, and subsequently launched his own consulting business. Leveraging his project management skills, Berini contributed to the design and build out of the Food Network Broadcast Center, Phoenix Satellite Television, and broadcast centers for leading news, sports, and entertainment networks.
Berini is a PMP-certified member of the Project Management Institute (PMI®) and a member of the Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers (SMPTE). He holds a bachelor's degree in radio, TV, and psychology from the University of Minnesota Duluth, and a master's in communications arts from the University of Wisconsin-Superior.
