CLEAR-COM V-SERIES TECHNOLOGY ADAPTED FOR NEW BROADCAST APPLICATION
Ross Video Embeds V-Series Module Into Its Vision QMD/X Switcher Family
LAS VEGAS, NEVADA, APRIL 21, 2009 ─ Clear-Com® Communication Systems, a Vitec Group brand, reinforces the built-in flexibility of its V-Series panel technology with the V-Series Module, a compact-size control panel provided with the same powerful intercom capabilities as the popular range of rack-mount and desktop display panels. Adapted to meet the requirements of Ross Video, a prominent manufacturer of products used in live production applications, the V-Series Module will complement the existing device modules in the Vision QMD/X family of modular multi-definition production switchers. A technology demonstration of the V-Series Module, which Ross Video will designate as “VisionCom,” will be shown at Ross Video’s NAB booth (SU1807).
The V-Series Module, a six-lever key/10-character display intercom panel with a Gooseneck mic and headset, keeps intercom functionality close at hand for operators of Ross Video Vision switchers, adding time-savings and efficiency to their daily operations.
“The development of the V-Series Module and its integration into the Ross Vision switcher line is testament to the inherent adaptability of Clear-Com products,” says Simon Browne, Senior Product Manager, Clear-Com. “With the future of virtually all broadcast technologies headed toward increased collaboration and convergence, we expect more manufacturers to follow Ross’s lead in offering solutions that combine several types of production products for maximum productivity and workflow enhancement.”
“We are extremely thrilled about the collaboration with Clear-Com, and impressed with the advanced capabilities, audio quality and flexibility that the V-Series Module has to offer,” says David Ross, CEO, Ross Video. “We believe adding this dedicated intercom control option, along with other controls conveniently fitted for close reach for busy broadcast operators, will grow the value of our Vision QMD/X family in live production.”
The V-Series Module offers much of the similar form, features and functions as the traditional rack-mount and desktop V-Series Panels. Of the six lever keys, one is dedicated for answer-reply, with individual mix level control, allowing users to set personal audio levels according to their preferences. The Module features the “Listen Again” technology, which employs digital audio memory to allow the user to replay 30 seconds of received incoming calls, aiding communication in noisy and demanding environments.
In addition, advanced digital signal processing (DSP) inside the V-Series Module gives operators increased control over their panels’ audio, including routing, EQ, mic limiting, headset sidetone, as well as intelligent dimming and local Interrupted Foldback (IFB). The DSP audio system has been designed to provide producer/commentator dual operation with stereo monitoring, binaural headset listening, cough switching and local intelligent IFB control/loudspeaker dimming, giving users enhanced control over their audio environments.
