Prism Sound and CEDAR Audio Sign License Agreement
Following its acquisition of the business and intellectual property rights of SADiE, Prism Sound has signed a License Agreement with CEDAR Audio that enables it to restart sales of CEDAR for SADiE processes.
CEDAR for SADiE is a complete suite of processes optimised for cleaning audio in areas such as multi-track re-mastering, surround, post, and film soundtrack restoration. Originally introduced in 1996, the software now incorporates five processes - Declick, Decrackle, Denoise, Dethump and Retouch V3.
The new Agreement, which was signed by CEDAR Audio’s Managing Director Gordon Reid and Prism Sound’s Sales and Marketing Director Graham Boswell, will ensure that CEDAR for SADiE users continue to have access to the processes and to software support from both manufacturers. Sales were temporarily halted while SADiE’s former owner, Studio Audio and Video, was in administration but this new agreement means that supplies have now been reinstated.
"I think it's fair to say that almost the whole industry was very sad when Studio Audio & Video (SAV) went into administration, and delighted when Prism Sound rescued the SADiE brand,” Gordon Reid says. “Of course, the licences for CEDAR for SADiE (which were signed by CEDAR and SAV) lapsed as soon as the administrator was appointed, so it was then necessary to negotiate a new Agreement with Prism Sound. Happily, this was a painless process, and I'm delighted that all the CEDAR for SADiE products are again available on all the SADiE platforms."
Graham Boswell added: "Few people realise how long the collaboration between the CEDAR and Prism Sound teams has existed. The relationship can be traced back to the early 1980's. We worked together to bring the first CEDAR systems into existence, and again in the early 1990s, when Prism Sound designed the hardware for much of CEDAR's hugely successful Series 2 units. Now we enter a new phase, with CEDAR providing software products for Prism Sound, and I'm sure that this won't be the end of the story."
Capable of processing up to 64 channels simultaneously, CEDAR for SADiE processes offer huge benefits for users working with multi-channel material. Users can simply select the tracks that they want to process and restoration is performed on all of them, many times faster than real-time. What's more, there are no compromises in the quality of processing and the final output ¬ CEDAR's uniquely high standards are maintained throughout.
CEDAR for SADiE is available from both CEDAR and SADiE’s worldwide dealer network.
