LightViper™ shines on Super Bowl XLIII, Winter X Games, & Daytona 500

LightViper™ becomes staple in live broadcast production

Elmsford, NY, February 29th, 2009: CP Communications, Elmsford, NY announced that they have supplied LightViper™ Series 32 Systems for several recent live broadcast sporting events including Super Bowl XLIII, Tampa, FL; The Winter X Games in Aspen, CO; & The Daytona 500 in Daytona, FL.

Kurt Heitmann, SVP at CP Communications had this to say about how the LightViper Systems are incorporated into their custom designed Booth-Kits; “We use LightViper™ Series 32 Systems in all of our Booth-Kits. These “Kits” were custom engineered by CP Communications, and specifically tailored for the challenge of live sports broadcast production. Each Booth-Kit also contains Studio Technology equipment for comms, and Evertz or Telecast equipment for video. These Booth- Kits, which include the LightViper™ Series 32 System, have become a staple in our work.” Regarding the system flexibility, Kurt had this to say; “The beauty of these Booth-Kits is that they can be used alone or in multiples, and can be configured in a variety of ways. “

The NFL Experience is an event leading up to Super Bowl XLIII. This interactive fan festival offers participatory games, displays, entertainment attractions, kids' football clinics, live television programming from the NFL network, and more. Kurt explains the set-up; “Basically we provided a fiber optic turnkey solution for a studio set on a stage out in the parking lot. They LightViper kit provided all the signal flow needed from stage to truck and back, about 3000’ away. We used a second Booth-Kit for the Media Center where reporters gather and do player interviews. ESPN also used a LightViper kit for their SportsCenter set outside on the Tampa Bay Waterfront at Cotanchobee Park. They (ESPN) are the reason we developed these cost effective plug and play kits. They just know they will do the job.”

At the Winter X Games, Booth-Kits were placed in four (36) foot high towers; one at Venue “A” for the Slope Style events, one at Venue “B” for the Big Air events, one at Venue “C” for the snowmobile events, and one at the X Center tower. All Booth-Kits were then transported down 3000 ft. of fiber to the Venue A/B tower, and spliced to the individual areas on the ski slope. “Total RF and CP provided the entire fiber infrastructure for the Booth-Kits as well as RF Audio and RF Video. The kits performed flawlessly in the extreme cold temps of Aspen at night. At this year’s Daytona 500, we used a LightViper Booth-Kit for the ESPN SportsCenter set once again”, noted Heitmann.

“Clients such as ESPN, Fox Sports, NBC Sports and others call us up on a daily basis and request these booth kits for their live broadcast production needs” said Heitmann, “The LightViper systems have never failed us, in extreme cold (like Winter X Games) or in extreme heat. These systems have become standard in the live sports broadcast production business.”
