UNIVISION TELEVISION GROUP SELECTS THE LINEAR ACOUSTIC AERO.AIR 5.1™ 10-CHANNEL TRANSMISSION LOUDNESS MANAGER TO LEVEL STATION AUDIO NATIONWIDE
LANCASTER, PA. – Linear Acoustic is pleased to announce that the Univision Television Group (UTG) has selected the AERO.air 5.1 for its audio processing solution. Univision is the leading Spanish-language network in the U.S., with more than 64 local stations in the U.S. and Puerto Rico. The local stations are the #1 Spanish-language stations in each of their 20 markets nationwide.
The Linear Acoustic AERO.air 5.1 provides UTG with a one box solution; a robust design with ability to handle embedded HD/SDI audio and a built-in Dolby® AC-3 encode; crowd control and a one-time expenditure that is ‘future-proof’ and can handle coming technologies such as Mobile Hand/Held, Dolby AC-3 and E decoding/encoding, as well as Nielsen encoding to address code recovery issues.
Ira Goldstone, vice president of engineering, UTG, commented, “We like the USB upgradeability of the AERO.air. Future features are easily integrated, and Univision can adapt on the fly to coming technologies as required. We needed a processor that would be the right choice today and in two years.”
“Some of the biggest networks across the country have chosen Linear Acoustic products to solve their audio issues, and we are pleased that Univision has selected our AERO.air for its stations,” says Christina Carroll, Linear Acoustic senior vice president of global sales. “Bad audio hurts ratings – it’s as simple as that. Our AERO.air with built-in Dolby Digital AC-3 encoding is designed to help networks just like Univision ensure that they provide their audiences with the best listening experience to complement their wide variety of programming.”
A feature rich solution, the AERO.air includes multiple loudness controllers, dual upmixing, and metadata management, as well as full-time two-channel downmixing to support legacy stereo or analog paths. UTG also selected the additional HD/SD-SDI input option for its AERO.air models. This option allows UTG to de-embed any of the possible 16 audio channels and vertical ancillary (VANC) metadata. A cost-effective option, this addition to the AERO.air eliminates the need to purchase additional stand-alone equipment to de-embed 5.1 surround sound in the AC-3 stream. Further, Univision will also have the option to easily upgrade to the most advanced features via USB, ensuring that its stations are always equipped with the most up-to-date equipment.
