LINEAR ACOUSTIC EXPANDS REACH IN EMEA MARKET WITH ADDITION OF ROBERT NICHOLAS AS DIRECTOR OF BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT

LANCASTER, PA – Linear Acoustic, the leading authority in loudness control and upmixing solutions for digital television, announces the hiring of Robert Nicholas as director of business development for the EMEA market. An industry veteran with a background in audio engineering and technology product development, Nicholas has proven success working with major professional broadcast and pro A/V manufacturers and integrators in the region. Nicholas will work to further the Linear Acoustic brand and presence abroad, contributing to the company’s ongoing success overseas.

“At Linear Acoustic, a key focus of ours has been to hire the best and the brightest,” says Tim Carroll, president of Linear Acoustic. “Robert has more than 35 years of industry experience, and with his addition we will continue to build our reputation as a company with an in-depth understanding of the issues facing our customers. Robert will continue to expand our relationships abroad, introducing even more European users to our premier product line of loudness control and upmixing solutions.”

“With a surge of countries in the European market establishing their own loudness standards, it is more important than ever that Linear Acoustic be able to provide the same personal and highly knowledgeable service similar to the field applications engineers in the U.S.,” says Christina Carroll, vice president of sales and marketing for Linear Acoustic. “It is a pleasure to have Robert on board to serve as our lead resource for customers in the European market.”

In his new role, Nicholas is responsible for appointing and training dealers in the EMEA market. He will also represent Linear Acoustic on several standards committees focused on drafting legislation for broadcasters on issues of loudness control and surround sound broadcast, including the EBU, P-Loud, D-MAE, P-AGA and the European HD Forum. Nicholas will also drive tradeshow activities for European shows including IBC and the international AES conferences.

“In such a large industry, it’s very difficult for a company to provide service on a personal level to their customers,” says Nicholas. “At Linear Acoustic, the company is founded on the belief that knowing the market and the technology well builds trust and instills confidence, and that really resonates with customers. I am excited to be a part of a company that truly values its relationships with its customers as well as ongoing innovation and technology advancements.”

Previously, Nicholas served as broadcast business development director for Digital Theatre Systems (DTS) leading a team that developed strategies for the adoption of an IP licensing model to broadcast applications and coordinating the company’s presence at international exhibitions. Prior to DTS, Nicholas was director of product and market development for Calypso Networks Hamburg and product manager at Studer Professional Audio AG in Switzerland.
