Junger Audio and 44.1 Announce Loudness Seminar in Paris

Representatives from the French broadcast, cable, satellite and post production industries are invited to attend a special seminar that will address the serious issues of loudness and peak level control in the broadcast chain.

Hosted by distributor 44.1 on behalf of dynamics processing specialist Jünger Audio, the seminar will take place at 2.30 pm on May 11th at the Concorde Lafayette Hotel in Porte Maillot, Paris.

44.1 Director Paul-Henri Wagner says: “Programme suppliers are well aware of the problems caused by surprise level changes when switching from one source to another. They are also equally aware of the annoyance this causes for viewers who have to rely on their remote control to adjust the volume between programmes on different channels or between programmes and commercial breaks.

“The aim of this seminar is to look at the issues surrounding broadcast loudness and level control and to give audio professionals an opportunity to explore the technology that we believe provides the solution.”

The seminar will feature a number of guest speakers, including Peter Pörs, managing director of Jünger Audio, who will introduce the company’s LEVEL MAGIC automated audio loudness control system for production and broadcast.

Already in use at a number of French broadcast facilities including Canal+, Radio France and Globcast, this comprehensive series of level control devices is capable of using any kind of I/O (Analogue and Digital) sources, as well as SDI, HD/SDI, Dolby 5.1 and all its related metadata.

LEVEL MAGIC relies on a sophisticated adaptive level control algorithm that is designed to adjust the level from any source at any time, with no pumping, breathing or distortion. It is based on a simultaneous combination of an AGC, a Transient Processor for fast changes and a “look ahead” Peak Limiter for continuous unattended control of any programme material, regardless of its original source.

Broadcasters and IPTV providers have been quick to spot the potential of Jünger Audio’s LEVEL MAGIC, a product that draws on the company’s 20-plus years of experience in dynamic range processing. Since Level Magic’s initial introduction five years ago, Jünger Audio has developed a series of interfaces and boxes covering all areas where level control is needed. Their quality has inspired sales in excess of 10,000 units to broadcasters such as FOX Networks, Pro7, SAT1, MTV Europe and HBO; satellite companies such as MNER and TATA Sky and IPTV providers such as Orange/ Globecast, Telefonica/Imageneo and T-Online International.

The seminar is free of charge and anyone who would like to attend should telephone 44.1 on +33 (0) 149777548 or email: s_germain@44-1.com
