Triveni Digital to Showcase Mobile DTV Extension for GuideBuilder™ at the ATSC Mobile DTV Pavilion at 2009 NAB Show
PRINCETON, N.J. — March 11, 2009 — Triveni Digital will participate in the ATSC Mobile DTV Pavilion at the 2009 NAB Show, demonstrating a new GuideBuilder™ software extension that gives broadcasters both terrestrial and mobile DTV functionality in a single platform that relies on a facility's established workflow. The company's new mobile metadata software extension integrates metadata management and generation for mobile DTV directly into the GuideBuilder PSIP system, providing broadcasters with a cost-effective means of introducing mobile services from their existing broadcast infrastructures.
"The Mobile DTV Pavilion at the NAB Show will highlight technology related to ATSC work on mobile and handheld standardization, and our new software extension for GuideBuilder offers a practical example of how sophisticated mobile DTV capabilities built on these standards can be realized via a simple upgrade path," said Ralph Bachofen, senior director, product management and marketing at Triveni Digital. "At the 2009 NAB Show, we'll demonstrate how easily GuideBuilder users can implement this enhancement to generate the metadata necessary for effective delivery of mobile broadcasts — and to do so without making significant and costly changes to their existing broadcast plants and workflows."
The GuideBuilder system provides mission-critical operational capabilities for both content providers and network operators by generating accurate metadata, the foundation for ATSC digital television transport streams, whether broadcast for television sets or mobile devices. Fully automated redundancy, support for centralized PSIP generation, and tight integration with multiplexers, traffic systems, and automation systems make it easy to incorporate GuideBuilder into existing broadcast infrastructures.
The new software extension being highlighted at the NAB Show enables transmission of metadata to mobile ATSC receivers and, in turn, allows users to select and change viewing channels. In addition to supplying information about current show, duration, rating, and other characteristics, the mobile DTV enhancements to GuideBuilder also support the delivery and display of parental control data.
The ATSC Mobile DTV Pavilion will be located at the Central Hall 4, Booth #C8546, and will be open April 20-22 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., and April 23 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Further show details are available at www.nabshow.com.
