Algolith Expands Product Line
Expansion of industry leading video processing Algogear product line provides added value,
functionality, and cost savings at no extra cost
LAS VEGAS, NV (April 20, 2009) – NAB BOOTH SU3117—Algolith Inc, a leader in advanced world class video processing solutions for broadcast, cable, satellite, and IPTV providers, today announced the launch of two new products: the Algogear Up/Down/Crossconverter with Frame Synchronizer, and the Algogear Upconverter with Noise Reduction. The Algogear product line has seen rapid expansion from one to nine applications in only one year. Broadcasters now have more products to choose from providing even more added value to Algolith's One Card, One Price, More Choices program (announced today in a separate release).
Designed for broadcasters looking to cut expenses, increase quality, and simplify workflow, the new Algogear Upconverter with Noise Reduction (XVC-1011-UC) and Algogear Up/Down/Crossconverter Frame Synchronizer (XVC-1001-UDC) products allow smoother conversion from standard-definition (SD) to high-definition (HD) formats, offer a new level of integration, and have built-in audio features at no additional cost.
“The new architecture of our Algogear solutions delivers greater performance and an attractive price point to a wider range of customers – from broadcasters to IPTV providers,” said Yvan Ouellet, president and CEO of Algolith Inc. “With the new Upconverter Noise Reduction solution, broadcasters receiving significantly compressed feeds from abroad can not only upconvert, but can also clean up compression artifacts such as blocking and mosquito noise. These combined solutions will allow our customers to achieve a more efficient and seamless workflow, and also save money.”
Algogear Up/Down/Crossconverter with Frame Synchronizer The Algolith XVC-1001-UDC is an up/down/cross converter which also includes SD/HD Frame Synchronizer used to solve audio and video timing issues as well as clean up metadata in a digital facility. This combined UDC solution reduces costs, simplifies workflow and achieves the best possible video quality with superior aspect ratio settings (ARC), offering flexibility for managing video formats in hybrid facilities. For more efficiency, the XVC-1001-UDC also supports active format descriptor (AFD) signalling for automatic management of aspect ratio, and can generate AFD packets based on the aspect ratio settings, which also simplifies HDTV workflow.

Algogear Upconverter and Noise Reduction Solution
The Algogear XVC-1011-UC Upconverter combines Algolith’s industry-leading noise reducer, the Algogear VNR-1002-MD. Now together as one solution, the XVC-1011-UC Upconverter provides best-in-class SD-to-HD conversion allowing signals to be cleaned up and processed before upconversion. It also provides broadcasters with more signal processing per card, significantly reducing cost per channel. It also offers advanced motion-adaptive de-interlacing, anti-aliasing filter, cadence correction, and per pixel deinterlacing for superior conversion quality. Users can automatically delay all 16 channels (four groups) of embedded audio to compensate for the video delay and process closed caption and time code information.
Other benefits and features include:
• Directional content adaptive scaling
• Sophisticated automated cadence detection with per-pixel video over film processing
• Custom and fixed ARC
• Full-fledged split screen function for adjustment, comparison and evaluation of noise reduction
One Card, One Price, More Choices
Algolith’s OOM program works with the entire Algogear line of advanced video processing cards. Customers can choose from one of the many solutions to reconfigure their cards at no additional cost. These include:
• Signal processing solutions for standard definition (SD) and high definition (HD) noise reduction;
• Format conversion solutions for SD to HD upconverting, and HD to SD downconverting; and
• Sync and delay solutions for frame synchronization, and video delay.
