SHINING TECHNOLOGY LAUNCHES WORLD’S SMALLEST, LIGHTEST DV RECORDER USING HIGH-CAPACITY REMOVABLE MEDIA
LAS VEGAS (NAB, Booth # C11739), April 20, 2009 – Shining Technology, Inc. (www.shining.com), a global provider of tapeless recording and conversion hardware for the video and broadcast industries, today announced CitiDISK® R258, the world’s first ultra-portable tapeless video recorder using high-capacity removable storage media.
CitiDISK R258 extends Shining’s patented, award-winning family of CitiDISK video recorders. With removable storage cartridges, users will enjoy significantly greater portability and ease-of-use – especially when shooting in the field. Initial cartridge capacity is up to 250GB, which can hold up to 19.0 hours of DV/HDV footage and up to 5.0 hours of HD footage. CitiDISK R258 can also be seen in Maxell Corporation of America’s NAB booth, # C9121.
Light on Weight, Heavy on Durability
A mere 9.6 Oz. (12.8 Oz. with cartridge) with a thin form factor, CitiDISK R258 easily attaches to virtually any FireWire-enabled video camera (e.g., Canon, JVC, Panasonic and Sony). The unit’s tapeless workflow saves videographers and editors countless hours of digitizing videotapes. Instead, they can “recapture” more creative and production time – especially in the field.
With CitiDISK R258, users seamlessly record their footage directly to digital video formats and access it immediately for editing (compatible with widely-used non-linear editing software packages, including Final Cut Pro, Avid, Canopus, Adobe, Matrox, Sony Vegas and Dayang Montage Extreme).
CitiDISK R258 will be offered in both traditional hard drive and solid-state memory configurations. Where traditional hard drives are well-suited for users shooting in stable environments (e.g., corporate, indoor, tripod-based), solid-state, or “flash” memory is rapidly becoming the preferred choice for those shooting in rugged, hostile conditions.
“Shining has always been about empowering its users with ultra portability,” said Chris Wang, director of marketing, Shining Technology. “Now, by incorporating the latest storage technology advances, like removable solid-state, users can leverage ultra flexibility too – no matter where they shoot.”
