Omneon MediaDirector 2202
The next-generation MediaDirector 2202 for the Omneon Spectrum™ video server is designed to meet the growing demand for greater numbers of SD and HD channels, more network file-access bandwidth, and a greater number of edit seats used in fast-paced production environments. The MediaDirector 2202 significantly extends the Omneon Spectrum server by delivering nearly an order-of-magnitude increase in total system bandwidth, enabling many more simultaneous real-time channels and setting industry-leading IP file access performance. The MediaDirector 2202 supports the most demanding file-based workflows, where the number of high-bit-rate HD channels continues to increase and the amount of file transfer bandwidth grows exponentially. This new MediaDirector removes bottlenecks and allows customers to construct larger systems to meet much higher channel counts and file transfer requirements than ever before. This consolidation of broadcast operations into a single system simplifies workflows and reduces the management burden associated with complex environments.
Omneon MediaGrid™ Active Storage System
The award-winning Omneon MediaGrid™ active storage system represents the first content storage system to play an active part in the broadcast workflow. More than just high-performance shared storage for all users within a facility, the MediaGrid system scales capacity, bandwidth, and media processing power in one system. Transcoding content where it resides — in the MediaGrid system — reduces transcode times and saves on infrastructure equipment and maintenance costs. The Omneon MediaGrid system helps users manage growth as well. When facilities need more capacity, users can simply add storage modules and, within seconds, gain greater capacity, greater access to bandwidth, and more grid-powered processing performance. At NATExpo 2009, Omneon will showcase the Omneon MediaGrid active storage system operating in conjunction with Apple® Final Cut Pro® in a streamlined edit-in-place workflow. This model provides the integrated ingest, storage, and playout infrastructure needed to establish a productive, collaborative broadcast environment.
Omneon MediaDeck™
The Omneon MediaDeck™ server is a broadcast-quality video server designed specifically for broadcasters who need a cost-effective, easy-to-deploy platform for up to six channels. The MediaDeck server is an integrated version of the Omneon Spectrum™ media server, combining storage, system management, Gigabit Ethernet connectivity, and video I/O modules in one convenient 2-RU package. By leveraging the Spectrum server architecture, the MediaDeck server combines mission-critical reliability with support for a complete range of broadcast workflows. The Omneon MediaDeck server at NATExpo 2009 will be equipped with Omneon MediaTools including RecordTool, DelayTool, and ClipToolPro. These smart, intuitive utilities provide a simple and cost-effective means of controlling server functions and managing the media files contained within the system.
The Omneon MediaDeck is the foundation for the new MediaDeck GX, a complete channel playout solution that combines proven video server playout, world-class graphics, and advanced audio processing, all of which operate under the control of the user's preferred automation system. Offering rich branding, real-time graphics, and master control functionality, the MediaDeck GX system simplifies workflows and makes it easier and more affordable for broadcasters to launch new services or to make incremental additions to their existing channel lineup.
Omneon ProCast™ CDN
The ProCast™ CDN high-performance file transport engine employs unique acceleration technology that enables post-production houses, broadcasters, and their clients to perform high-speed file transfers over a wide area network (WAN). With the ProCast CDN transport engine, users can move large media files over great distances as fast and as simply as if the action were a local transfer. File transfer speeds achieved with the ProCast CDN are orders of magnitude greater than FTP transfers and are not affected by distance. For example, a one-hour DV25 file sent from Los Angeles to New York on a 450-Mb/s connection would take 30 hours via FTP, but delivery via ProCast CDN takes only three minutes. The same file sent from Beijing to New York would take 69 hours via FTP but still takes just three minutes with the ProCast CDN. The ProCast CDN is fully integrated with all Omneon server and storage products.
