3G Wireless relies on Nucomm for America’s Cup coverage
More than 100 TV networks across the world delivered 2500 hours of live coverage during the 32nd America’s Cup.
This massive production was anchored by 2007 world feed host 3G Wireless, which employed Nucomm’s digital microwave systems to ensure uninterrupted content to viewers in 150 countries.
In covering the two racecourses, 3G Wireless installed 25 Nucomm Campac2 transmitters over land and sea. The configuration included installation in two helicopters, two chase boats, 12 yachts and three rubber inflatable boats. In addition, there was one wireless camera and two handheld. All 25 signals were delivered in a multichannel environment — much of it over water — without any interference. The Nucomm four-way diversity input receiver ensured reliability and reception, according to 3G Wireless president Greg Robinson.
