Ai To Debut ATSC DTV Repeater At NAB
Acrodyne (Ai) will introduce an ATSC DTV repeater at NAB2003 that can power levels up to 1 kW, extend the DTV broadcasting area and cover its shadow area.
The DTVR-100U includes an 8-VSB receiver, 8-VSB modulator, upconverter, high-power amplifier and on-channel band-pass filter and comes with optional power metering, status monitoring and remote control systems.
The 8-VSB receiver generates a demodulated SMPTE 310M TS output and is composed of three main chipsets that include channel coding, 8-VSB filter and vector modulation.
The model mounts on the pre-corrector board and allows for correction of system group delay and nonlinearity of the HPA.
According to Ai, the channel converter module has low phase noise and high-frequency stability using a multi-loop PLL local oscillator and high stable reference clock. The amplifier uses LDMOS transistors and senses temperature, current and voltage and has an isolator for protection from output mismatching. A hot standby configuration is also available.
