All Mobile Video recently built a multi-camera EX3 Carrypack portable production system anchored by a For-A HVS-500HS HANABI HD/SD portable digital video switcher. The EX3 Carrypack was used on its first project in March, a multi-camera studio production at AMV’s Unitel Studio in New York City for a new MTV game show, “Silent Library.” The show was shot in three weeks using Sony PMW-EX3 camcorders with Fujinon lenses.
“The goal was to provide high-quality, 1920x1080 multi-camera shoots at price points similar, or in many cases lower, than standard definition was just a short time ago,” said Tom D’Angelo, director of Rental Services for All Mobile Video. “We face economic challenges daily that demand we work more efficiently. The AMV EX3 Carrypack with the For-A HVS-500HS will help us do that.”
The customizable HVS-500HS 1 M/E switcher features 10-bit, 4:2:2 internal processing and up to 12 inputs and seven outputs. The multi-format switcher supports various 1080i and 720p standards and is switchable from NTSC to PAL. Other standard features include two still stores and a dedicated picture-in-picture function that enables the building of composites with up to two reduced-size screens without using DVEs.
