TeamCast is providing its Forward Link Only (FLO)modulation equipment to Axcera, which the latter is using to manufacture a complete line of transmitters and repeaters for MediaFLO-based mobile TV deployments.
The collaboration stems from a software agreement penned between TeamCast and QUALCOMM, the developer of the FLO standard, in early September. As part of that deal, QUALCOMM licensed its field-programmable gate array (FPGA) software to TeamCast, enabling the company to develop FLO-compatible modulators that could be integrated into third-party transmission equipment. The FLO-compatible modulators from TeamCast include the ModulCast MFL-1000 and MFL-2000. The FLO-compatible transmitters from Axcera include the Innovator CX low-power transmitters and echo-cancelling repeaters/gap fillers, the Innovator LX medium-power transmitters and the Innovator HX high-power transmitters.
