Axon Expands Signal Processing Line

Axon will launch several new audio and video signal processing products at IBC2008, including new 3 Gbps-enabled modular products and video routers.

Axon is exhibiting with its global business partner, Nvision.

In line with the industry’s move to a 3 Gbps workflow, Axon will showcase its 3 Gbps-capable modular multiviewer, the GQW200, as well as four new frame syncs.

The company has launched a dozen 3 Gbps-capable products in the past year and is adding another two at IBC2008—modules that are supplied as HD/SD-functional only, with a firmware upgrade available for 3 Gbps.

The new frame synchronizers (GFS100 and GFS110) have backup inputs, 16-channel audio transparency and color correcting capabilities. The GFS110 adds a full audio shuffler and audio proc-amp with gain and phase control. Both are available as HD/SD-versions (HFS100/HFS110), and both can be upgraded to 3 Gbps.

Axon is also introducing three other modules and a 2 RU frame for its Synapse modular broadcast system. The company is bringing a new dual-channel HD upconverter (2HU10), which is also available with a full audio shuffler (2HU11). The new analog-to-digital A/V converter, with composite or component input capability (ASM08), is the counterpart of the Synapse SAM08.

Axon will also show Cortex, its new setup, monitoring and control software for Synapse.

New to the company’s router product line (with Nvision) are a large-matrix format router, (NV8576), and a multichannel master control switching system (NV5100MC).

The foundation of these routers is Axon’s Router Technology Platform, which includes N-on-1 redundant cross points; linear expansion for high-speed serial video routers; and operation at 1.5 and 3 Gbps.

Also on hand will be the NV5100MC, which allows broadcasters to tailor a powerful master control system.

Axon will be at Stands 10.A21 and 10.B21.
