Barco Displays HD Reference Monitor for Broadcast and Post Production
Barco exhibited the new RHDM-2301 high-definition reference LCD monitor for broadcast studios at NAB. The patent-pending RHDM-2301 features such advanced LCD technologies as a 10-bit panel and real-time color stabilized LED backlights.
Meeting the Grade 1 standard defined by the EBU for contrast, black levels, and brightness, Barco’s RHDM-2301 promises continuous color stability, perfect grayscales, deep darks and pastel tones. The high-speed 120 Hz panel and scrolling LED backlight avoids motion blur and judder like CRT reference monitors show moving video.
For color calibration with the RHDM-2301, two video channels can be positioned in split screen, allowing a detailed colorimetric judgment of multiple input sources. The advanced calibration sensor technology is integrated into the display’s electronics.
In preview and master control environments, the RHDM-2301 offers a reference for source quality validation as well as for program and output monitoring. For delivery, ingest and signal quality monitoring, it presents a reference for color grading and speed judgments across different workflows. The display offers de-interlace and inter-frame handling option to validate multiple application formats.
Finally, the RHDM-2301 uses a wide gamut display approach with selectable color spaces as a “master reference” that lets multiple users exchange content between sources, editing suites, digital intermediate generation and delivery situations based on one single common reference.
