BBC Arabic to accept user-generated content
Consistent with its goal of being a true multimedia operation, BBC Arabic will use iPoint-media’s goliveTV moderated, user-generated content (UGC) and news solution for viewer participation programming based on live and recorded user content.
Viewers of the new BBC Arabic service will be able to use broadband video technology, including Internet Web cameras and 3G mobile phones, to participate. BBC Arabic will offer opportunities for viewers to record a video blog to be aired at a later time or request to participate in a live TV broadcast.
For live situations, BBC Arabic producers will use goliveTV’s moderating capabilities to interview live callers before allowing the content to be aired. They can also use the system to screen submissions.
The goliveTV system provides management capabilities to ensure that broadcasters retain full control and moderation of all live and recorded content.
