Calrec to launch new remote I/O boxes at NAB

Calrec has announced the launch of a new range of remote I/O boxes at the upcoming NAB show. Designed to complement the firm's existing modular remote I/O box, these fixed-format boxes range from 2RU to 4RU in size and have built-in PSU redundancy with single or optional dual IEC power connections. At the convention, Calrec will be showing the first two models from this range.

The AD5603 is a 2RU analog unit consisting of 24 mic/line inputs and eight line outputs. It features phantom power indicators on mic inputs and a tri-color signal LED indicating whether audio is present, normal or at clip for each input.

Occupying 3RU, the JB5607 consists of 32 AES inputs and 32 AES outputs on unbalanced BNC connectors. This AES unit will also be available in a 110-Ohm XLR-based 4RU variant.

Both boxes interface to the Calrec Hydra Network using dual Cat5e GigE ports for audio and control redundancy at distances up to 90m. For extended distances, these products will also support optional duplex fiber GBIC connectors, which allow multimode or single-mode fiber operation. For GPIO, communications and serial interfaces, the new I/O boxes feature an optional expansion port.
