Cinema Audio Society honors Digidesign, Zaxcom
The 44th annual Cinema Audio Society awards, held Feb. 16 in Los Angeles, saw broadcast industry stalwarts Zaxcom and Digidesign taking home the organization’s prestigious Technical Achievement prizes. This was the fourth year that the society presented the technical awards, which were offered in two categories: outstanding product used in production and in post production.
Digidesign, an Avid Technology company, took home the award in the post-production category for its Icon integrated digital mixing console. In the production category, Zaxcom was honored for its Deva 5.8 hard disk audio recorder, which incorporates recording, mixing and effects capabilities in a single portable device.
The Cinema Audio Society was founded in 1964 with the mission of sharing information among audio professionals and creating a viable channel of communication among those with an integral role in the production and distribution of soundtracks in the motion picture and TV industries. Its membership includes more than 550 movie, TV and commercial sound mixers.
