Clear-Com to introduce PC-based Concert intercom at NAB2008
At NAB2008, Clear-Com Communication Systems is bringing its intercom expertise to the desktop PC with the introduction of its first software-based intercom system, Clear-Com Concert. The new multiuser conferencing and intercom system is software-based and will be on display in booth C5908.
Based on voice-over-Internet Protocol (VoIP) technology, Clear-Com Concert’s enhanced audio features work over a standard local area network (LAN) or Internet connection between local and remote users, eliminating the need to pick up a phone or connect to a conference bridge. An intuitive interface puts the user in full charge of the audio conference with easy drag-and-drop functionality and simple point-and-click controls.
“Today’s broadcasters are faced with having to work in fast-paced environments where time is of the essence,” explained Jake Dodson, Clear-Com VP of product management. “Clear-Com Concert is a cost-effective solution for addressing this need. Clear-Com Concert is the ideal system for time-sensitive applications, such as on-location mobile production trucks and live broadcasts. Freelancers working from home or in the field can now connect to their desktops or laptop computers via user-friendly interface using a microphone or headset. Conferences can be initiated within minutes.”
The system, scalable to many hundreds of users, is designed with proprietary protocols and error recovery algorithms for mission-critical applications that include live broadcast productions. The system uses AES 128-bit encryption for protecting privacy of transmissions. With texting and online chat capabilities that offer easy escalation to a voice session, users have increased control and flexibility. Supporting a wide variety of codecs including ultra wideband, Clear-Com Concert provides realistic audio that captures more components of the human voice for speech quality enhancement than has been previously available.
