Digital Alert Systems markets enhanced emergency system

Digital Alert Systems, a developer of Emergency Alert Systems (EAS) for TV stations, has announced the availability of its DASDEC digital EAS encoder/decoder.

The PC-based product uses the Internet to provide remote access, software upgrades and EAS alert origination operation while remaining compatible with legacy equipment.

Optimized for broadcasters, DASDEC is a software-based digital EAS encoder/decoder and display controller specifically designed to meet today's EAS requirements and accommodate the emergency communication requirements of the digital era.

Currently, EAS is a mandated system, although it's still operating primarily on a dated, pre-Internet era hardware and software infrastructure. DASDEC provides legacy EAS compatibility while featuring modern LAN-based communications methods and technology to support the emergence of all-digital broadcasting.

For broadcasters, DASDEC has been enhanced with several tools for manual alert forwarding, including network-controlled GPI relays and user-programmable front-panel audio announcements to provide notification of unacknowledged and pending unforwarded alerts.

It also features programmable filters for blocking manual forward, an optional AES audio output channel and third-party AES audio pass-through/override capability. It also interfaces to broadcast digital video CGs.
