DVC releases compact, lightweight 2K, HD, SD disk recorder

DVC has released its newest compact uncompressed disk recorder, Boxxster. It will handle all popular digital formats including HD, SD and DCI. It uses 2.5in hard disk technology that helps reduce Boxxster’s size as well as keeping its noise level and power consumption low. As with other DVC clip recorders, it uses the QuickClip software platform, which emulates VTR operations. It can be controlled via RS-422 through a DB9 connector. Boxxster also supports the clip-based protocols from many automation companies.

Boxxster can be operated over an IP connection by HTTP and Java interfaces, and files can be imported directly over its GigE connection. All popular file formats are supported, both compressed and uncompressed. With the included software, multichannel recording can be made frame accurate. Besides both SD and HD-SDI connections, it also has analog inputs and outputs.

The unit comes with 480GB, 720GB or 1200GB of onboard storage, which equals approximately 72, 108 and 180 minutes of uncompressed 1080i HD material. Boxxster is available in several configurations.
