EMC Debuts New Broadcast Storage Platform
EMC Corp. has introduced the Symmetrix DMX series of information storage systems based on Direct Matrix Architecture.
The Symmetrix DMX series has three models. The DMX800 is a rack mount storage system that scales from 8 to 16 front-end ports, from 1.2 to 17.5 TB of raw capacity and from four to 32 GB of global cache for operating systems environments. The DMX2000 is a dual-bay integrated system that scales from eight to 48 front-end ports, from 3.5 to 21 TB of raw capacity and from four to 64 GB of global cache for mainframe and open systems environments. The DMX2000 is a dual-bay integrated system that scales from eight to 96 front-end ports, from seven to 42 TB raw capacity and eight to 128 GB of global cache for mainframe and open systems environments.
EMC says the Direct Matrix Architecture exceeds the limitations of bus- and switch-based architecture by accommodating unpredictable demands on the system with its throughput, bandwidth, scalability and response time via direct and dedicated I/O paths.
