Euphonix introduced its Artist Series, a new line of Ethernet-based DAW control surfaces for the personal studios, at the 2008 NAMM show in Anaheim, CA, last week. Using the company’s EuCon communication protocol, the MC Mix and MC Control can effectively control all popular digital recording systems on both Mac and PC platforms.
“By utilizing the knowledge and technology from our large-format consoles, we were able create the perfect DAW controller for the personal studio market and the response we’ve gotten from the Artist Series at NAMM proves we did it right,” said Martin Kloiber, Euphonix CEO. “As a first-time exhibitor, we couldn’t have been more pleased with the show buzz and the booth traffic the Artist Series generated.”
Designed to fit between the computer keyboard and monitor, the MC Control features a touch-screen interface, 12 soft keys, four motorized faders, eight touch-sensitive rotary controllers and a jog/shuttle wheel along with traditional transport controls. Primary controls for the MC Mix are eight motorized faders and rotary encoders – all touch sensitive – plus eight programmable displays to show track names along with metering and parameter information.
The MC Mix and MC Control have the ability to seamlessly switch protocols, allowing them to work with any applications supporting EuCon, HUI or Mackie Control. Application support for EuCon, which already extends to products from Apple, Steinberg, Apogee, Cakewalk and MOTU, continues to expand. Steinberg’s Cubase 4 will soon have full EuCon support for the Artist Series, while Cakewalk recently announced a free Sonar 7.0.2 update.
The new Euphonix MC Mix is now shipping, while the MC Control is scheduled to ship in March 2008.
