GlobeCast Broadcasts Tsunami Relief Benefit
Satellite company GlobeCast broadcast a soccer match at the Nou Camp Stadium in Barcelona on Feb. 15 to benefit victims of the recent tsunami in Asia.
Proceeds will go to the FIFA/AFC Tsunami Solidarity Fund.
GlobeCast was on site to provide transmission, encryption and uplink to its direct-to-home broadcast platforms worldwide.
The game was carried live from Barcelona to the Americas via Hispasat 1C (Ku-band), to Europe and the Middle East via Hot Bird 6 (Ku-band) and to Asia/Oceania via AsiaSat 2 (C-band).
GlobeCast--a subsidiary of France Telecom--also has added a Bosnian channel BN TV to its direct-to-home satellite TV platform. The satellite company is providing BN TV with transmission to America and Australia via satellite and fiber, including uplink and space segment.
