Grass Valley to introduce new MPEG-4 ViBE encoder, decoder
At IBC2009 in Amsterdam Sept. 11-14, Grass Valley will introduce the ViBE EM3100 MPEG-4 4:2:2 encoder and ViBE iRD3100 MPEG-4 4:2:2 decoder.
The encoder and decoder are designed for fixed and mobile applications and are well suited for live broadcasts, such as sports. The ViBE EM3100 and iRD3100 contribution codecs are both housed in a compact 1 RU chassis, an advantage for installation in constrained areas, such as satellite or outside broadcast vans. The ViBE EM3100 also offers input switching redundancy.
Grass Valley has developed both with functionality tuned to live broadcasting, including low latency — in the range 350ms to 850ms — with a boot time of less than 15 seconds.
