Harmonic showcases new IP-based video delivery
Harmonic this week is demonstrating an all-IP remote headend for distribution of aggregated video content acquired via satellite.
The demonstration, at the TelcoTV show in Dallas, includes the latest generation DiviCom Electra MPEG-4 AVC (H.264) encoders and the ProStream 1000 platform with ProCipher bulk descrambling capabilities.
The company said the ProStream 1000 platform’s density and scalability enabled the cost-effective delivery of aggregated broadcast TV content. The new Electra 7000 HD and Electra 5400 SD H.264 encoders enable reductions in the bit rates required to deliver video services.
The company said that the combination of the Electra encoders, Harmonic’s satellite and terrestrial integrated receiver/decoders, the new ProStream 2000 H.264 splicer and the versatile ProStream 1000 stream processing platform together represented the industry’s most dense and scalable remote IP headend solution.
