HME is providing wireless intercom and on-site paging solutions at all of the presidential and vice presidential debates, which started on Sept. 26 at the University of Mississippi, in Oxford, MS, and finish Oct. 15 at Hofstra University, in Hempstead, NY.
HME’s products offer secure communications and are virtually immune from interference in crowded RF environments like the debate sites. Using a combination of the company’s wireless intercom and on-site paging system will allow the debate organizers to coordinate behind-the-scenes activities.
The production staff will coordinate behind-the-scenes activities using HME’s DX200 professional digital audio systems. The system provides multiple channels to communicate between campaign and event staff. They will be using three DX200 systems and about 24 beltpacks for stage management coordination. One intercom will be configured for the management crew of the Democratic Party, another intercom configured for the management staff of the Republican Party, and the last intercom will allow the producer to talk to either stage management group without the other group hearing the conversation.
The DX200 systems were used four years ago at the 2004 debates and producer, Martin Slutsky, wanted the same system again due to the crystal clear secure communications and flawless performance. Larry Estrin, owner of Best Audio, is serving as director of audio and production communications for the debates. Estrin has been outfitting the debates since 1988 and is working with On Stage Audio as the equipment vendor.
