KEYC-TV selects MicroFirst for automaton control

KEYC-TV, the United Communications-owned CBS affiliate in North Mankato, MN, has selected MicroFirst’s Digital Automation System (DAS) to provide station automation control.

The fully redundant DAS is designed to provide a streamlined workflow for the ingest, metadata management and transmission of multichannel content. It will control five Omneon server channels as well as Miranda’s ImageStore, PESA’s Jaguar routing switcher and several VTRs.

The real-time control for the DAS runs on MicroFirst‘s real-time operating system, WinMOS, running on the company’s PowerPC-based MPC-3200 multiport microcontroller. It features no lock-ups, no blue screens and no waiting for boot-up processes. The system typically boots in 30 seconds or less, providing faster services with minimal downtime.
