K-Tek offers new windshield system for microphones
K-Tek has introduced the Soft-Zepp US, a zeppelin-style windshield system that allows a microphone to be mounted without the hassle of bayonet or screw fittings.
Manufactured by Reinhart Microphone Products of Denmark, Soft-Zepp is constructed of lightweight acoustic foam with a coarse pitch. This produces a cavity that is fundamental for creating an effective windshield system and also minimizes high-frequency attenuation. The Soft-Zepp also has a larger-than-traditional diameter for greater wind-noise reduction.
This lightweight (14oz) system features a permanently mounted fur windcover and a comfortable Kraton rubber handgrip with soft gel inserts. A thread in the handle allows for quick and effortless attachment of a boom pole. The microphone is then inserted into the back of the Soft-Zepp.
Available in one size, Soft-Zepp US is designed to fit most shotgun microphones.
