Lawo honored at German Economy Innovation Awards

Digital console manufacturer Lawo AG was presented with a silver award at the 29th German Economy Innovation Awards, presented Jan. 24. Philiipp Lawo, CEO of Lawo AG, accepted the award from German Minister of Education and Research Annette Schavan at a ceremonial gala held at the Old Opera House in Frankfurt.

Lawo had been nominated by the jury in the midsized company category for the development of its modularly designed mc² product platform, considering in particular the foremost member of this product family, the mc²66 console. The Innovation Awards recognize trendsetting achievements in the German economy.

More than 350 companies sent in applications for the Innovation Awards. Nominees were picked by a jury of prominent researchers and business leaders including Nobel Prize winner Klaus Klitzing (Max Planck Institute), Ulf Merbold (ESA European Space Agency) and Hans-Jörg Bullinger (Fraunhofer Society).

In reaching their decision, the jury members considered project management, design, degree of innovation, market opportunity and synergy as well as the cost and benefit to the environment and society.
