Link Research to unveil new MPEG-2 encoder, mini special-purpose transmitter

Link Research will roll out the L1050 HD/SD MPEG-2 encoder and a new mini transmitter for special wireless camera applications, such as onboard vehicles, at NAB2008.

The L1050 is a small-form, low-delay encoder for outside broadcast (OB) and uplink trucks. At half the width of a standard 19in rack, it supports MPEG-2 SD and HD. Performance of this encoder is enhanced by options for DVB-S, DVB-S2, DVB-T and Link’s own LMS-T modulations at 70MHz or S-band. The encoder is software upgradeable to H.264 High Profile encoding.

The L1050 encoder can transmit video across triax, satellite links or fiber-optic networks. It also has a Web browser interface for remote control.

The new XPu transmitter is a lightweight, rugged transmitter measuring 3.93in x 3.93in x 1.18in. It is Link’s smallest transmitter and can be used with Link's new active car-mounted antennas for motor racing applications or with its own remote amplifier unit.
